This afternoon, while outlining its exhibition program for the fall at its New York gallery — Kevin Francis Gray September 4-29, Ahmed Alsoudani October 4-November 3, and Günther Uecke November 9-December 21 — Haunch of Venison also announced that it has entered “a new working relationship” with the British Ged Quinn, though it does not represent him.

Quinn (born 1963), who also shows with London’s Stephen Friedman Gallery, is known for his large-scale paintings combining elements of Renaissance narrative landscape paintings, Medieval symbolism, and contemporary imagery, often populated with distorted and tortured figures reminiscent of Francis Bacon portraits.

He will have his first solo show with Haunch of Venison in New York in the spring of 2013. This spring he was the focus of a solo show at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and another solo exhibition devoted to Quinn will open at Miami’s Bass Museum of Art in December during Art Basel Miami Beach.

Previewing the season ahead, Haunch of Venison International Director Emilio Steinberger told ARTINFO, “This will be [Ahmed Alsoudani's] first major show in New York, and will give people a chance to view this much discussed work in person… Ahmed, to me, is one of the most important young artist working today.”

“We are also very pleased to be working with Ged Quinn,” Steinberger continued, “and are excited about organizing his first solo exhibition in New York. His work have a profound impact on the conversation between contemporary art and history.”
